Know your oud

Our oud, by origin

Every origin has its own character. Here is how to tell them apart.

Indian oud

Deep, old-school notes with remarkable longevity and a rich, diffusive throw. Try Char Al-Fahaheel or Noura.

Maroki oud

A rare, refined profile for connoisseurs — from everyday royal Maroki to the top-grade live Maroki.

Vietnamese oud

Mountain oud with a beautiful, unusual note and strong staying power. Best on ash-covered coal.

Oud oil

Aged Indian, rare old Ceylonese and the bold Trat — scent, longevity and projection in a few drops.

Step by step

How to burn oud the right way

01

Light the coal

Light a piece of charcoal and wait until it glows all over with a thin layer of white ash.

02

Match the heat

Resin-rich oud like live Maroki needs hot coal; Vietnamese oud shines on ash-covered coal.

03

Add a small piece

One small piece is enough to scent a room. Add more only when the smoke fades.

04

Let it embrace you

Pass the burner near your clothes and hair, then let the fragrance fill the space.

Beyond oud

Using maamoul and oud oil

Maamoul

Burn it like oud on medium coal. For occasions choose Fakher, Razza, Aroos or Hudb; for every day, Mezyan; and to refresh the home and hide cooking or smoke odours, Afari.

Oud oil

A little goes a long way. Dab a tiny amount on pulse points — wrists, neck and behind the ears — or layer it under your favourite perfume for extra depth and longevity.

Care

Keep your scents at their best

Keep it sealed

Store oud and maamoul in their tins or an airtight box so the oils stay rich.

Away from heat

Keep oils and perfumes away from sunlight and heat to protect their character.

Close after use

Close oil bottles tightly after every use and use a clean applicator.
